Panel-Contribution at the conference "The Politics of Supply Chains: Between Regulation, Resistance, and Resilience" on November 17, 2025 in Berlin
Prof. Ulla Glaesser contributed to the international, interdisciplinary conference “The Politics of Supply Chains: Between Regulation, Resistance, and Resilience” (https://www.gsvc-research.org/conference2025/), which took place on November 17/18, 2025 in Berlin organised by HWR Research Competence Center on Challenges and Resilience of Global Supply and Value Chains.
Global supply and value chains are a central arena of societal debate. They connect production and consumption across national borders, generate prosperity, but at the same time raise questions about sustainability, responsibility, and power. In politics, business, and academia, there is an ongoing discussion about how supply chains should be regulated, organized, or transformed. The conference brought together different perspectives on value chains – ranging from legal and economic to sociological, political science, and cultural studies approaches.
On the panel on "Effective Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence Accountability, Grievance and Remedy Mechanisms in Practice", chaired by Prof. Hartmut Aden, Ulla Glaesser presented research findings on "What makes grievance mechanisms effective and resilient? Learnings for times of political backlash and regulatory uncertainties".
