Panel-Contribution at the international Conference "Thicker Notions of Human Rights Accountabilities”, November 19-21, 2025 in Brussels

Prof. Dr. Ulla Glaesser contributed to the conference “Thicker Notions of Human Rights Accountabilities”

(https://futureproofinghumanrights.org/closing-conference/) which took place from November 19 to 21, 2025 in Brussels as the closing event of the multi-disciplinary research project “Future Proofing Human Rights”, a collaboration between the Universities of Ghent, Antwerp, Brussels and Hasselt (see https://futureproofinghumanrights.org).

The rich conference programme wove together the interconnected themes of rethinking accountability mechanisms, roles of corporations, and approaches to harm, - and added (meta-)perspectives on specifically “wicked problems” and rival epistemologies.

The panel “Corporate Remedy for Corporate Harm” with Ulla Glaesser ("Remedy in Practice: Exploring Rightsholder-driven Accountability Through Effective Grievance Mechanisms"),  Tricia D Olsen ("Possibilities for Pluralism and Agonistic Respect: New Pathways for Understanding and Promoting BHR Norms Amid Contestation") and Kari Otteburn ("The Means-Ends Paradox of Nonjudicial Grievance Mechanisms: Voluntary Compliance Versus Effective Remedy in Global Corporate Accountability") was chaired by Ben Grama.
