Dr. Marvin Reiff

Academic Staff MemberDr. Marvin Reiff has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair since June 2024. His research focuses on sustainable private and corporate law in times of polycrisis, with a particular interest in property, political economy and responsive legal doctrine.
Dr. Reiff studied law at the University of Münster (2013–2019). There he completed the specialized foreign language training Derecho Español with an internship in Santiago de Chile as well as the specialization Law in Europe. He was also involved in the development of the Münster Law Clinic as a department head, worked as a student assistant at the Insurance Research Center and spent a semester abroad at the Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris.
After passing the First State Examination, Dr. Reiff began his doctoral thesis on "Steward Ownership" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Petra Pohlmann, which was supported by a doctoral scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. At the same time, he was involved with GermanZero and worked as a research assistant at the Düsseldorf law firm Arnold Ruess and as a lecturer at the International School of Management. Marvin Reiff defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Münster in 2023 and published it in the series "Studies of Private Law" (Mohr Siebeck) in 2024; the work was awarded the 1st Harry Westermann Award 2024 by the Faculty of Law of Münster University and the 2nd German Thesis Award 2024 by the Körber Foundation.
Prior to passing the Second State Examination in May 2025, Dr. Reiff was a legal trainee at the Kammergericht Berlin, with internships at the Federal Chancellery and the Berlin law firm Lindenpartners. He is a member of Lawyers for Future and the research networks Junges Nachhaltigkeitsrecht, LPE Germany and European Research Group on Steward Ownership.
